The absolute minimum requirement of the university is for the lecturers to upload the course outline to the iFolio. Here I will demonstrate on how to do so;
First log into iFolio using your eWarga username and password. Then click on the course that you want to upload the course outline. In this example I used FK7322 Statistik & Penggunaan Komputer.
I can’t upload into my own course because SPS PPUKM used an outdated list of course coordinators from 2010. Despite informing them last week, they refused to make any changes without an official letter from my HOD. Not only we have to do all the work updating the iFolio, we also have to battle bureaucracy for us to have access to our own courses.
Now click on the Info button on the left side of the screen. You will see the Synopsis page displayed on the right side of the screen. Click on the Edit button on the top right of the screen.
Now click on the Browse button and look for the softcopy of the course outline. You can upload in Word or PDF format. Once done, click on the “Open” button to upload it.
Then click on the Save button on the top right side of the screen. That’s it. You have done the absolute minimum required.
But the page still looks bare with the synopsis box being empty. To fill it up, you can copy the first paragraph of your course outline and paste it there before saving the page. Or you can impress your students by embedding your file within the Synopsis page.
To get the embed code, first you have to upload your course outline to SlideShare. I will elaborate about SlideShare in my next post. After uploading it, copy the embed code by following the illustration below.
Then go back to your iFolio page. At the Info/Synopsis page, click on the HTML button as shown below.
The HTML Source Editor box will pop up. Just copy the embed code into that box and click the Update button. To save it, just click on the Save button on the top right side of the screen.
Now your page looks neat and interactive. The students can read your course outline directly on the page. They can flip the pages, zoom in, zoom out and even download it if they want to.
Or they can download the softcopy that you uploaded earlier by clicking on the Proforma button.
Do try out the instructions that I have given and inform me of any problems 🙂
